Vehicles ‘Blew Up’ After Head-On Crash In Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -
Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says somehow the driver of a pickup truck turned east into the westbound lanes of Highway 14 near the Marion Rd intersection and ended up crashing head-on with another vehicle.
Moilanen says the speed limit where they crashed is 55 mph and witnesses reported the vehicles “blew up “ when they collided.
The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 41-year-old Mahad Olow of Rochester. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries as was the 35-year-old Mazeppa woman driving the other vehicle. There were three boys - ages 3, 5 and 8 - in her vehicle. The oldest also suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Moilanen says all occupants were wearing seatbelts.
Olow was ticketed for driving the wrong way.
