Rochester Man Sentenced For DWI Crash With Young Son
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man whose young child was in his car last year when he crashed at a high rate of speed while intoxicated has pleaded guilty.
He admitted he was driving in excess of 100 mph at the time of the crash.
Court records show 34-year-old Rafael Snyder pleaded guilty to DWI and child endangerment and was placed on probation for 4 years. He has also been fined nearly $1000.

An Olmsted County deputy found Snyder’s damaged and abandoned car near Chatfield and noted skid marks indicated it “was traveling at a high rate of speed” when it went into a ditch and hit three signs before coming to a stop.
Snyder later admitted ”he was driving too fast and lost control coming around a curve.” He also told the deputy his five-year-old son was in the rear seat at the time of the crash and suffered “some scratches.”
A breath test showed Snyder’s blood alcohol concentration was .103. Snyder told a deputy “he had been drinking beer and mixed drinks at a bar in Fountain and finished drinking around 2:30 a.m.”
When asked if he felt the effects of the alcohol at the time of the crash, Snyder responded "Yes, to an extent." He explained that he was traveling too fast (he estimated 110 mph) and lost control around the curve.
Records show Snyder was convicted of DWI in 2008.
