The Minnesota State Fair attracts more than 2,000,000 people every year, and it 's a good bet 98% of 'em see the 12 butter busts carved to resemble Princess Kay of the Milky Way and her court.

Showcasing Minnesota’s finest agriculture, art, and industry, the Great Minnesota Get-Together is always 12 Days of Fun Ending Labor Day. The 2019 Minnesota State Fair runs August 22 - Labor Day, September 2nd. And when it is done, and the crowds have receded for another year, and the fall winds begin to blow across the barren landscape, what happens to the butter busts?

Princess Kay and her court take the butter busts home. Back in 2012, MPR did a story about the princesses and their butter and here's what Stewartville's Theresa Twohey did...

"I currently still have mine, but my family is hosting Breakfast on the Farm for Olmsted County in June (2013), and they serve about 4,000 people a pancake breakfast," she said. "So we're going to melt it down and use it for that. I'm super excited to see (the butter head) again." (Source)

Brilliant! Others give theirs to people or organizations that need it but don't have a pile of money (food shelves, church camps, etc).
