Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - Another prison sentence has been handed down in a case where technology used to combat drunk driving led to convictions for a violent home invasion.

30-year-old Terrel Schaeffer of St. Paul has been given the same sentence imposed on his co-defendant in the case, 9-years in prison. Schaeffer earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and burglary charges for barging into a rural Cannon Falls home last year and robbing the couple living in the house at gunpoint before leaving them bound in the basement. 33-year-old Aldray Young of Inver Grove Heights was sentenced in the case earlier this summer.

A key piece of evidence in the case came from a DWI ignition interlock device that was installed in the vehicle used by the pair when they committed the crime. Court records show the device recorded images of both men inside the vehicle with the victim's home in the background and a timestamp that put them at the crime scene at the day and the time the crime occurred.
