3. Lewiston-Altura's State Tournament Appearance

The Cardinals made a great run through the section tournament, their second in a row. They finished the 2016 season with a record of 14-13, while winning five straight in the section tournament to reach the state tournament.

As the three seed in the East Subsection of the Section 1 Class A section tournament, the Cardinals defeated Rushford-Peterson 5-0, Randolph 6-1, Wabasha-Kellogg 7-0, United South Central 10-2, and Randolph again 7-0 en route to the State Tournament berth!

The Cardinals went 1-2 at the State Tournament. They drew eventual State-Champion Springfield in round one, and got their lone victory over Ely 5-0. The Cardinals finished sixth, falling in the constellation as they fell to Legacy Christian 6-2.

It was still a great experience and atmosphere at the state tournament!

2. Caledonia Volleyball's Runner-Up Finish at the State Tournament

The Warriors were phenomenal through the section tournament and into the state tournament. They finished the season 30-6, and dominated in the section tournament.

In the section tournament, they defeated Lewiston-Altura 3-0, Wabasha-Kellogg 3-1, Mabel-Canton 3-0, and beat Hayfield 3-1 in the section final to get the state tournament berth.

Their dominance continued into the State Tournament, winning their quarterfinal match over Cook County 3-0, and then they won their semi-final match 3-2 in thrilling fashion over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton. They won the fifth and final set 16-14 to advance to the state championship game.

In the finals, they just ran into a Mayer Lutheran team that had everything going their way. The Warriors played great, but it just wasm't enough as they fell 3-1.

Broadcasting games is always fun at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, and congrats to Warriors on a great season!
