The Southland Rebels fell in set one, but bounced back with wins in sets two, three and four to top the Kingsland Knights 3-1 in Three Rivers Conference play at Kingsland High School in Spring Valley.

The turning point was in set three, when the Rebels took a lead of 4-3 and never looked back. They used great play from McKendry Kennedy and Lexi Shaw to lead the offense, while Shaw and Hannah Hovden were great at the net defensively. The Rebels led the rest of the way in set three, but the Knights were never out of striking distance, Southland was just able to close it out at the end 25-22.

Set three is always a crucial set, no matter what. Tonight, the Rebels used that set to propel them to the 3-1 victory.

The Knights took set one 25-22, and really felt in control throughout the end of the set. They were finding their rhythm offensively, led by Lauren Buchholtz and Nora Jahn. Buchholtz put great swings on the ball, and helped push the Knights to a 1-0 lead.

The Rebels battled back in set two, but it was a back and forth affair. The teams were tied seven times, but eventually the Rebels took control with a 15-14 lead and never looked back. Southland led 21-15, and then the Knights came roaring back, looking to lead 2-0, but just couldn't muster up enough offense and fell 25-22.

Set four was all Southland, and the Knights couldn't get it going, as Southland won 25-15, as Kennedy and Shaw made great plays down the strech to lock up the 3-1 victory.
