Southland’s Strong 2nd Half Leads To Victory Over Grand Meadow

The Southland Rebels used an 11-0 run in the 2nd half to build a five-point lead that eventually led to a 67-63 win over Grand Meadow in a Southeast Conference matchup Monday evening in Grand Meadow.

The Rebels were strong in the paint and used a terrific performance from Ethan Forthun to help lead the way for Southland.

Trailing 50-45 with just under 8 minutes to go, the Rebels found their rhythm. Harrison Hanna and Forthun were key parts of an 11-0 run for the Rebels that earned them a 56-50 lead.

Grand Meadow worked to battle back in the final four minutes, but Hanna, Eli Wolff, and Nick Boe were able to knock down shots at the free-throw line to seal the win for Southland.

The Superlarks got great play from Taylor Glynn and Colt Landers, especially at the start of the second half. Southland came out and built up a quick five-point lead. Landers and the Superlark offense then found their stride to build up a five-point cushion. From there, Southland took over.

Landers finished with a team-high 18 points, while Glynn finished with 14. Ben Kraft had 10 for Grand Meadow.

Hanna was just as important as Forthun in the Southland offense, the junior finished with 17 points including some fantastic finishes at the rim.

The game was tied at 30 at the half when Forthun was able to grab an offensive rebound off a miss free-throw and put it back with just 25 seconds left in the half, which set the tone for Southland going into the start of the second half.

Grand Meadow played strong defense, but that one 11-0 run was what sealed the deal in favor of Southland.

The Rebels moved to 4-0 on the season with the win while Grand Meadow fell to 3-2 with the loss.
