The Caledonia Warriors and Chatfield Gophers played a back-and-forth game at Chatfield High School Tuesday night, but the Warriors were able to come out on top with a 49-40 win.

The Warriors were able to connect on late free throws and a couple of layups to get past the Chatfield Gophers.

Caledonia led by as many as 10 in the second half, but the Gophers were able to cut the lead down to five, 45-40 with about one minute to go, but the Gophers couldn't connect at the line and the Warriors did to get the 49-40 win.

The Warriors led at the break 24-22, and then Chatfield came right back to open the half, to take a 25-24 lead. The Warriors came back to take a 30-27 lead, and then Macy Pederson hit a 3 to tie things up. Caledonia then took a 32-30 lead and never relinquished it.

The Gophers jumped out to a 4-2 lead, but the Warriors came back and took a 17-11 lead. Kaitlin Conniff had eight first-half points to lead the way for the Warriors, along with Katie Tornstrom. Conniff finished with 12, while Tornstrom had 13. Eva Welscher had 13 as well. The Gophers were led by Alanna Goetzinger in the first half with 10 and finished with a game-high 16 points.

Tornstrom added 14 rebounds for the Warriors and Conniff made some great plays facilitating the offense. Belle Berg and Pederson controlled the ball and did so very well. They just came up a little short.
