Today and tomorrow marks a very busy day for not only KFIL, but also for Section 1A and Section 1AA basketball basketball.

The Girl's Section 1A Final pits the no. 1 seed Goodhue Wildcats our of the West and the no. 5 seed Fillmore Central Falcons out of the East.

Our game tonight is to go to the State Tournament. The Falcons defeated some tough opponents in Spring Grove, Rushford-Peterson and Kingsland to move on to the Section Final. They can score in many different ways, and have used their defense to get them where they are. It should be a fun game tonight!

We will be broadcasting THREE games for you Saturday, starting our first one at 11 a.m. with a 10:45 a.m. pregame show. This means, we have to move Coaches Corner up to a 9 am start time so we can continue to give you the best local sports news and updates!

The three games we are broadcasting are going to be very, very exciting!

We start off the day with in Section 1AA as the no. 1 seed Caledonia Warriors (24-4) battle the no. 4 seed Pine Island Panthers (23-4):

This is a match up with two very athletic teams, as the Warriors and Panthers like to run the floor. The Panthers do much of their damage on the inside as well, while the Warriors have some big-time scorers in Owen and Noah King. While Caledonia like to run the floor and play very fast, they still have an incredible defense. They generate many turnovers, and will look to do the same against a talented Panthers team.

Our second game of the day keeps us in Section 1AA, and pits together two teams that have played against each other once already this season. The no. 2 seed St. Charles Saints battle the no. 3 seed Lake City Tigers:

Both of these teams are very, very good! In their lone meeting this year in Lake City, the Saints were able to edge out a 78-67 victory. The Saints rely on their shooting, and that is because they shoot the ball so well. They are a team that is capable of going on multiple runs, and in the blink of an eye you could be trailing by 15. The Tigers have some talents guards, just like the Saints, which makes this a match up for the ages this weekend!

Our final game of the day looks to be just as entertaining as the first two. We move to the Section 1A West Subsection final as the no. 1 seed Spring Grove Lions take on the no. 2 seed Rushford-Peterson Trojans:

The Lions and Trojans are familiar foes as well, as Spring Grove beat Rushford-Peterson 53-43 back on January 19th. These two teams play some contrasting basketball, as the Lions can put up a TON of points, while the Trojans are known for their defense. The Lions do much of their damage beyond-the-arc, while the Trojans use a full-court press to turn up the heat and cause turnovers for easy layups on the other end.
