Undated(KROC AM News) -  It was a good night for Minnesota’s two major political parties as both report huge turnout for their Super Tuesday precinct caucuses.

 

The Republican Party says its turnout smashed the previous record.The party says turnout was 115,000, more than 75 percent higher than the 2008 record. Democrats also reported very heavy turnout. Traffic jams were reported last night at Rochester’s Century and Mayo High Schools where caucuses were being held.

At the end of the night, Minnesota bucked the national trend. Bernie Sanders was easily favored by Democrats and Marco Rubio was the winner on the Republican side, followed by Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.  

Results show those attending caucuses in Olmsted County followed the statewide trend as Sanders and Rubio were the winners.Republican turnout was put at just over 3400 and the Democratic caucuses attracted around 2200.
