Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Governor Dayton has been told his recently-diagnosed prostate cancer is both treatable and curable.

Dayton was at Mayo Clinic Tuesday and Wednesday to meet with his doctors and undergo diagnostic tests.

Dayton deputy chief of staff Linden Zakula says the tests found no signs the cancer had spread beyond the prostate. Zakula says “Dayton is now evaluating two recommended treatment options, which are surgery or radiation. He expects to make that decision in several days, and it will be disclosed at that time.”

Mayo spokesman Karl Oestreich says the cancer was caught early and that Dayton “should be able to carry on his duties serving the citizens of Minnesota without significant interruption.”

Dayton revealed the cancer last week, a few days after it was diagnosed at Mayo.
