Rochester Man Seriously Hurt In Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle
Rochester, MN (KROC AM) - A Rochester man suffered a serious head injury in a crash that was apparently caused by the driver of a stolen vehicle who may have been doing 100 mph.
Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says the 65-year-old man was driving north on Highway 63 at the Highway 52 overpass when his car was hit by the speeding SUV around 11:30 pm Thursday.
Moilanen says the SUV hit the rear driver’s side of the car. The SUV ended on its side and the driver was gone when first responders arrived.
A witness told police the SUV had passed him just before the crash at “a high rate of speed,” possibly 100 mph.
Moilanen says the name of the man who was injured is being withheld until his family has been notified.
The owner of the SUV was not aware it had been stolen from her Rochester home until she was contacted by police.
