Rochester Man Seriously Hurt After Hit By Vehicle On Rural Road
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was in critical condition at last report after being hit by a vehicle that was doing 50 mph when he was struck.
The accident happened around 8:30 pm Saturday in front of Sekapp Orchard east of Rochester on Collegeview Rd.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Capt. Jim Schueller says the 82-year-old man and his wife were walking back to their vehicle that was parked on the south side of Collegeview Rd when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle.
The man was identified as Kevin Schreurs. His wife told deputies she unsuccessfully tried to grab her husband’s jacket when she saw the approaching vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that hit him was driving home to Elba. The 25-year-old woman was not ticketed.
Schueller says there were numerous vehicles illegally parked on both sides of the road. He says that may have played a role in the accident as the driver said she didn’t see the victim until he “ran out in front of her vehicle."
