St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota has experienced another flu-related death. It was reported to the State Department of Health during the past week and was the second since the start of the current influenza season.

Overall flu activity in Minnesota is being categorized as "local" for a second straight week. The health department’s weekly update on flu activity does show a significant increase in the number of probable outbreaks reported by schools throughout Minnesota. The total for the past week was 18, compared with just 7 the previous week.

The report also shows that was another sharp increase in the number of people presenting flu-like symptoms at reporting clinics and a similar increase in the percentage of positive results on samples submitted for testing. Meanwhile, the number of flu-related hospitalizations fell last week to 17 from the season-high total of 24 the previous week. Since the season began, there have been 86 hospitalizations due to flu-related complications.
