Woman Gives Birth Along South Broadway in Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Local emergency responders delivered a baby early today.
Rochester Police Lieutenant Gretchen O’Neil says a man called 911 around 3 AM and reported he was driving his pregnant wife to the hospital. He apparently made it clear to the dispatcher that the contractions were occurring at a pace that made it doubtful their baby was going to wait for them to get there.
The motorist had pulled over in the area of 40th Street and South Broadway and soon after the 911 call, Rochester Police Officers, Rochester Firefighters, and a Mayo Clinic ambulance crew were at the scene.
Lieutenant O’Neil says the baby was delivered at the scene and the mother and infant were transported to St. Marys Hospital by ambulance.
