The Mabel-Canton Cougars got a great performance for the middle of the floor and great defense helped them top the Spring Grove Lions 3-0.

The Cougars took control early in each set, and it started on the defensive side of the court. From there, good serving and quick hits at the net helped them build a 10-5 lead in set one, a 10-6 lead in set two and a 20-9 lead in set three.

From there, the Cougars were able to key plays from Sarina Stortz, Kenidi McCabe and Payton Danielson to get the win. Stortz led the way with eight kills and numerous blocks up front to lead the way. McCabe had six aces in the win, and Danielson added seven kills.

Spring Grove had some great play in the middle from Addyson McHugh, who finished with seven kills, and Amelia Solum from the outside, who finished with four kills.

The Cougars advanced to 27-2 with the win, while the Lions fall to 16-7.
