Three Suspects Arrested in Fatal Shooting in NW Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Three men are being held on murder charges as suspects in a fatal shooting in Rochester Monday night.
Police received a 911 call about “shots fired and a man down” in the 2800 block of Charles Ct. NW. around 9:00 PM.
Police Capt. John Sherwin says officers arrived to find the victim on a sidewalk “suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.” Sherwin says the man was not breathing and had no pulse. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead. Sherwin says the man has been identified 40-year-old Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhu Al Naddf who lived near where he was shot.
Sherwin says surveillance video led officers to a nearby apartment where “several persons of interest were located.” Sherwin says after being interviewed, three Rochester men were arrested and are facing 2nd-degree murder charges.
They have been identified as 23-year-old Traequan Bamlounghong, 25-year-old Eric Tyler Lee, and 24-year-old Sao Yim.
Sherwin says “this remains an active investigation. Investigators are currently in the process of drafting search warrants and speaking to additional witnesses. The exact circumstances preceding this incident remain unknown; however, there does not appear to be a prior connection or relationship between the victim and suspects. Robbery is being explored as a possible motive.”
