Rochester Man Told Not to Drive Again Caught Driving Again
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who has a history of driving without a license ended up in jail this week - after crashing into another vehicle while trying to get away from police.
A Rochester police officer was trying to take 44-year-old Calvin Reavers into custody Wednesday afternoon on a warrant when he took off in his car. The chase began in the parking lot of an apartment building in the 1900 block of 8 ½ St SE.
The officer broke off the chase right away and Reavers continued at a high rate speed heading west on 8 ½ St. Moments later he ran a red light at the 15th Ave intersection and collided with the other vehicle. The other driver suffered a minor injury. Reavers was taken to jail and is now facing several criminal charges. Police found a handgun and some meth in the car.
Since 2014, he has been convicted five times of driving after his license was revoked. The most recent conviction was in December. He was placed on probation for a year and ordered not to have any more driver license violations.
