Watch Keith Urban’s Acoustic Cover of Miranda Lambert’s ‘Vice’
During a recent stop at the Grand Ole Opry, Keith Urban sat down backstage to perform an acoustic cover of Miranda Lambert's recent single "Vice."
Readers can press play above to watch Urban, armed with only an acoustic guitar, sing the chorus of Lambert's "Vice." Before starting the snippet of the song, Urban notes that he "love[s the song] at the moment."
"I've never played this," Urban confesses, "so Miranda, bear with me, but this is a great song, even if it is weird that a guy is holding shoes in his hand at 7AM."
Miranda Lambert's Best Live Shots
Lambert released "Vice" in July of 2016, as the first single from her newest album, The Weight of These Wings. The singer says that she wrote the song, with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, “at the exact time of the s–t hitting the fan,” referencing her divorce from Blake Shelton in the summer of 2015.
“Sometimes when you’re going through something in your life, you may run to some things you shouldn’t and run from some things you shouldn’t,” Lambert explains. “I think this song is an opportunity to just be honest and own it and say, ‘Yeah, I have some imperfections, and I live a life, and here and there I might get in a pickle.’ It’s not about one thing or another. Everybody has a vice they run to when they need comfort, and I think that’s what this song says.”
"Vice" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and at No. 18 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart following its release -- Lambert's highest chart debuts thus far. The song has been certified gold and was nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
