Prior Lake, MN (KROC-AM News) - A motorist was arrested last night after a young girl riding a bike was fatally injured in a collision with a vehicle in a far southern Twin Cities suburb.

Police in Prior Lake say the 8-year-old victim was riding a bike with her mother when she was struck by a pickup at an intersection in a residential neighborhood near the Mystic Lake Casino complex just before 8 PM.  A news release says the child was transported to a hospital in Shakopee, where she died from her injuries.

Prior Lake Police say the pickup driver remained at the and was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide. He was identified as 47-year-old Joseph Ray Jacobson and is currently being held in the Scott County Jail.
