Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Charges have been filed against a motorist accused of fleeing deputies at 100 mph in Rochester.

The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday, also alleges the motorist drove with his lights off on two busy Rochester roads.

The alleged fleeing incident began shortly after 11:30 Friday night.

20-Year-Old Rochester Man Accused of Fleeing Law Enforcement at 100mph on West Circle Dr., 16th St.

20-year-old Thomas Alexander Irish is charged with felony fleeing and misdemeanor reckless driving.

The court document says the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a black sedan traveling south on West Circle Dr. NW in Rochester at a high speed without lights on.

A responding sergeant estimated the suspect vehicle to be traveling at 100mph in a 45 mph zone, the charges say. 

The sergeant activated his squad vehicle’s emergency lights but Irish did not stop and continued at a high rate of speed, causing the deputy to lose sight of the vehicle as it continued south into a construction zone, the complaint says.

Later on, law enforcement spotted the vehicle on 16th St. SW. Irish was traveling east at an estimated speed of 100mph without lights on, the court document says. 

Rochester police eventually found Irish with the vehicle on the side of the road in the 1500 block of 3 Avenue SW. The Rochester man was taken into custody.

Irish made his first court appearance Monday morning and was released without bail. He’s due back in court next month.
