The Rochester Police Department responded to the vandalism at the house of worship one day after taking a similar report from the home of Rochester lawmaker Kim Hicks.
The DFL House member’s reelection Facebook page includes a post featuring photos of racist graffiti spray-painted on political signs in her lawn and spray-painted damage to her home.
The graffiti included swastikas and the letters KKK. The Rochester Police Department says investigators are working with state and federal agencies to find the suspects, who are believed to have inflicted the vandalism around 4:30 on the morning of August 4.
Sign at B'nai Israel Synagogue in Rochester Vandalized With Offensive Graffiti
Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says officers responded to B'nai Israel Synagogue in the 150 block of 7th Ave. Southwest on the report of a sign that had been tagged with graffiti.
A post on Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson’s Facebook page indicates the graffiti contained offensive language. He says both actions should not be tolerated.
Grayson says the defacing of the sign at the synagog does not appear to be related to the case involving the home of Rep. Hicks.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding both incidents to report it to law enforcement.
