The new year got off to a surprising start for a western Iowa police department. It also was undoubtedly an exciting one for Rudy, one of the department's K-9's, shown above. Just imagine how Rudy probably reacted after uncovering that the 2016 Penske box truck police had pulled over had 61 boxes inside, each filled with marijuana.

The loot was found by Rudy and officers from the Council Bluffs Police Department on New Year's Day at approximately 1 p.m. Officers executed a traffic stop for speeding on eastbound I-80, between mile markers seven and eight. The driver was issued a ticket for speeding and the dog's sniffer led police to 1,500 pounds of marijuana. The street value? Estimated to be an incredible $4.5 million. Police may have been clued in by a Penske truck filled with UHaul boxes, too.

The driver, 35-year-old Dmitry Borisov of Los Angeles, California, pictured below, was arrested. He faces charges of Intent to Deliver Marijuana Over 100 kg/Under 1000 kg, Prohibited Acts, Tax Stamp Violation, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He posted bond on Thursday.
