The Grand Meadow Superlarks found paydirt on their first play from scrimmage then the defense took over as the Superlarks beat the Spring Grove Lions 40-6 Friday night in Grand Meadow.

Dusty Copley ran 67-yards for a touchdown on the Superlarks first possession to give Grand Meadow a 7-0 lead. On the following possession, quarterback Evan Oehlke connected with Blake Ludemann to make it 13-0. Daniel Smith found the endzone in the 2nd quarter and the Superlarks took a 19-0 lead into the half.

Grand Meadow's defense was fantastic in the game, limiting Spring Grove's opportunities and did a great job of forcing three turnovers in the game.

Spring Grove battled throughout the entire game and seemed to find their stride in the 2nd quarter before Smith's late touchdown run from 1 yard out, but the Superlarks were looking to strike right away in the 3rd quarter.

After an excellent kick-return by Luke Speer that set the Superlarks up on Spring Grove's 25, Copley sprung for a 25-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage to make it 27-0 right out of the gate in the second-half.

Oehlke added a touchdown run in the third to make it 34-0, then Copley capped off his hat trick to make it 40-0 in the 4th quarter.

Spring Grove found the endzone in the 4th quarter when quarterback Issac Griffin connected with Tysen Grinde for a 28-yard touchdown to make it 40-6, which was the final score.

Copley finished with an unofficial 141 yards on the ground for Grand Meadow and three touchdowns, while Oehlke was 4-of-7 through the air with one touchdown and one interception. Smith added 50 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Griffen was 7-for-17 for 61 yards and a score to lead Spring Grove, and he also added 55 yards on the ground.

The Superlarks moved to 2-0 with the win while Spring Grove fell to 1-1.
