Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man and woman from Stewartville have been charged with third-degree murder in connection with the drug overdose death of a Roseville man.

Brandon Mann and Nicole Thorson, who are both 25 years old, were arraigned this morning in Goodhue County Court. The judge presiding over the hearing set their conditional bail at $500,000 each. In addition to the murder counts, both Mann and Thorson are also charged with second-degree manslaughter and third-degree drug sales.

The criminal complaints filed against the pair allege they sold the overdose victim the drugs that resulted in his death last December. The investigation began after Roseville Police to a request for a welfare check from the mother of the victim and found him dead of an apparent drug overdose in his apartment.

The court documents indicate investigators were able to link Thorson and Mann to the victim through social media messages, which included arrangements to meet in Zumbrota two days before the victim's death for the purchase of "oxys" and other pills identified as "bars." The evidence included in the complaint includes video recordings from security cameras at the convenience store where the exchange allegedly took place.

A search of the couple's residence in Stewartville also led to the seizure of a number of pills that matched pills that were found in the victim's apartment after his death. Some of the pills taken from the Roseville residence later tested positive for fentanyl and an autopsy determined the man's death was the result of "Complications of Fentanyl Toxicity."

The charging documents also state that both Thorson and Mann admitted selling pills they believed were oxycodone and Xanax to the overdose victim. They are both due back in court on June 29.
