The Chatfield Lady Gophers used a 10-0 run in the second half to come back and top the Kingsland Knights in a tight battle Monday evening in Spring Valley, 65-60.

The Gophers were trailing 45-41 in the second half when they started a 10-0 run that pushed the lead 51-45 with just over 7 minutes to go in the contest. Alyssa Baum and Paige Erickson each hit crucial shots in the stretch that gave the Gophers the lead for good.

The Knights played hard the entire game and carried a 29-28 lead into the break behind a very balanced attack. The Knights were forcing turnovers and generating offense by pushing the tempo in the first half.

The Gophers were able to get some shots to fall early in the second half and take their initial lead, but Kingsland came right back and made it 39-35.

The Knights held that lead at 45-41, but then the Gophers made their move. Chatfield went on that 10-0 run that was just too much for the Knights to overcome. The Knights cut the lead down to 63-60 with 79 seconds left, but the Gophers hit at the free-throw line to secure the win.

The Gophers were led by Zayda Priebe who finished with 17 points, while Jaiden Zimmerman added 16 for Chatfield. The Knights were led by Elli Buchholtz 18 points. Buchholtz became the latest Knight to cross the 1,000 point mark Friday night. Emily Miner was great too, adding 10 points and 8 rebounds for Kingsland.

The Gophers moved to 8-12 with the win, while Kingsland fell to 12-8 with the loss.
