The Chatfield Gophers were in a tough battle with the Southland Rebels Thursday night, and it went all the way to the 5th set, which the Gophers took 15-8 to get the 3-2 win.

Southland played really well in set one and set two, as Kelsey Mensink and Hannah Hovden played great defense at the net, and utilized their offensive abilities to help take the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-15.

Chatfield turned things around in the third set, knowing they had to take over the final three sets to get the win. The Gophers offense really caught fire and took a 25-12 win behind great play from Zayda Priebe and Paige Erickson to cut the deficit.

Southland continued to hustle all over the floor and did a great job of controlling the ball, but the Gophers again got the offense clicking in a hurry with a 25-11 win in set four behind Erickson, Devann Clemens and Priebe.

Set 5 was another great set, with many plays that went back-and-forth, but the Gophers took the final set 15-8 and the win.

Mensink finished with 9 kills and Hovden with six to lead the Rebels. Chatfield was led by Preibe's 10 kills and Erickson's 8 and four service aces.
