A third coronavirus case has been confirmed in Fillmore County.

The Minnesota Department of Health confirmed an additional positive case of COVID-19. The new case is a male in his 20s, who likely got the disease through local transmission.

As of March 23, 2020, there are three current coronavirus case counts in Fillmore County. One female in her 20s, one male in his 20s, and a male in his 60s.

All patients are in isolation at home and recovering. Fillmore County Public Health is working directly with MDH and health care partners to address the needs of the patients and provide guidance to others who may have had contact with them.

The coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is spread primarily by respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, similar to how influenza is spread. Also, it can be spread when people touch surfaces that have been contaminated by an infected person and then touch their eyes, nose or mouth.

The total of coronavirus cases in Minnesota has now reached over 200.
