Whalan Fastpitch Tournament Inducted Into Hall Of Fame
The Whalan Lutheran Church Men’s Fastpitch Tournament was held on July 1st, and at that time, the small city of Whalan, once again did something incredible.
The Whalan Lutheran Church Men’s Fastpitch Tournament was inducted into the Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame, according to the Fillmore County Journal.
I think that is awesome. I have never played fastpitch softball, personally, but it seems very difficult. I just can't imagine myself hitting a ball that is coming up at me, instead of down like in baseball or slow-pitch softball.
It is also the first tournament to be inducted into the Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame, as it is usually individuals that are inducted in. The tournament was first put on in 1970, and has been a family-fun event ever since. Many players from Southeast Minnesota, Northeast Iowa, and all over the state have come to Whalan to enjoy one of the best tournaments in the state.
Although the number of teams that have entered the tournament have dropped since it started, it is still a weekend of fun that everybody loves.
