Teenager Dies After Swimming Mishap Near Duluth
Duluth, MN (KROC-AM News) - The St. Louis County Sheriff's Department is indicating that it has received notice from family members that a teenage boy from Superior Wisconsin has died as a result of the injuries he suffered in a swimming mishap earlier this week.
WDIO-TV in Duluth is reporting family members contacted the Sheriff's Department on Thursday to report the death of 14-year-old David Beck. The teenager was swimming with friends in a lake near Duluth Tuesday evening and failed to resurface after he dove from a dock.
Earlier news reports said some of the people at a nearby swimming beach jumped into the lake and were able to bring the unresponsive teenager to shore. He had been under water for at least several minutes when he was found at a depth of about 15 feet of water on the bottom of Little Grand Lake.
