Supreme Court Streams Dayton Appeal Arguments
St Paul (KROC AM News) - History was made at the Minnesota Supreme Court in St Paul Monday morning.
For the first time ever, oral arguments before the court were offered to anyone with internet service. The court provided audio and video livestreaming through its state website of an important constitutional case involving Gov. Dayton and the legislature.
Dayton vetoed the legislature’s operating funding earlier this year as part of a dispute with Republicans over a tax bill. The Republicans sued and a lower court ruled in their favor, finding Dayton’s action was unconstitutional. He then appealed. The hearing lasted about 90 minutes.
A ruling by the Supreme Court is expected in the near future.
