Facebook basically erupted yesterday as rumors of snowflakes flying in the sky were shared.  And...FYI...they weren't rumors.  They were true.  The "s" word hit Southeast Minnesota and I saw snow with my own eyes.  I also know that we have many people in our community that need help staying warm this winter...and luckily, we still have some time to gather up some items.

This Wednesday, October 21st, I'll be hanging out at Charlies Eatery & Pub ready to gather all sorts of coats and winter gear at the "Share the Warmth" coat drive-by event.  The Rochester Elks Lodge #1091 is helping collect items from 10am until 7pm for those in our community that are homeless, military vets, and kids in need.  The items will be distributed by Catholic Charities and Rochester Community Warming Shelter.

Look through your bins of winter gear.  Have your kids try on all of their winter coats, hats, mittens, gloves, and snowpants to see what still fits, because I can almost guess that something is now too small and can be given to someone else in our community.
