RPD: Drug Overdose Possible Cause of Two Deaths in Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester police are awaiting the findings of two autopsies to determine if two recent deaths were the result of drug overdoses.
Police Captain Casey Moilanen said the first of the two calls came in around 11:30 p.m. Monday. The wife of a 34-year-old man reported finding her husband’s body at their residence in the 2400 block of 1st St. Southwest.
The second death was reported around 2 a.m. Tuesday. A person in the 1400 block of 16th Ave. Northwest with a 63-year-old man called first responders after the man had used drugs.

Moilanen said officers found evidence of drug use at both locations and that neither man showed signs of experiencing physical trauma. Moilanen said the 63-year-old did have other medical issues.
The possible overdose deaths came on the heels of three overdose calls that Rochester first responders answered over the weekend. None of those overdoses were fatal and all three were believed to have been caused by heroin and fentanyl use.

Moilanen said evidence at the scene of the death calls suggested recent heroin and fentanyl use.
