Rochester Woman Thought Her Lover Was A Doctor

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester woman who thought she was having a relationship with a doctor found out he was actually a crook.
And now authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest.
Being sought is 36-year-old Kody Drost.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman first met with a Rochester Police Dept. investigator in Aug. 2020. She said Drost had identified himself as "Ethan Miller" and the woman was led to believe that he was a Mayo Clinic brain surgeon. The woman said they had “a romantic relationship” and lived together for approximately 18 months.
Her suspicions began when they decided to buy a home together and Drost was “unable to provide the necessary financial information.”
The woman did a background check and learned “Ethan Miller” was a bogus name. She also discovered he had been convicted of identity theft in a 2017 case. She soon discovered Drost had opened three credit cards in her name and they had a combined balance of nearly $27,000.

The 2017 case involved a Good Samaritan.
The woman had allowed Drost and his wife to stay at her rural Rochester home “until they could get back on their feet.” The woman soon began noticing cash and gift cards in her home were disappearing and discovered Drost had opened credit cards in her name. He was placed on probation and discharged in May 2020, a few months before police learned of the new case.
