Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – A Rochester woman has been sentenced for a serious traffic accident that happened near the city airport about a year ago.

The criminal complaint that was filed against 25-year-old Sharada Yanambaka accused her of being under the influence of marijuana when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 30 and Olmsted County 8 and collided with another vehicle.

Yanambaka was treated for serious injuries as was a passenger in her car. The driver of the other vehicle was 68-year-old Barbara Sauter of Hayfield, who was listed in critical condition when first admitted to St Marys Hospital.

The complaint says a blood test revealed Yanambaka had marijuana in her system.

Yanambaka pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge and two felony counts of criminal vehicular operations were dismissed as part of a plea deal. She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to pay nearly $1,000 in fines and fees.
