Rochester Teenager Admits Hitting Man With Hammer During Robbery
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester teenager has pleaded guilty to a brutal assault that happened during the robbery of a local business earlier this year.
Pleading guilty Wednesday to a 1st-degree assault charge was 18-year-old Jacob Meier. He is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
According to the criminal complaint, Meier admitted he was the one who hit an employee over the head with a hammer during the Feb. 19th robbery of the GameStop store in NW Rochester. The 23-year-old victim suffered a fractured skull.
The robbery included several video games and an Xbox that were later recovered by police.
The complaint says Meier told police another teenager who was with him “owed a debt to a drug dealer and the robbery was an effort to obtain funds to pay that debt.”
The other teen pleaded guilty earlier and is awaiting sentencing.
