The duck opener is this Saturday, and the Minnesota DNR is predicting a good season!

DNR waterfowl specialist, Steve Cordts, told KIMT that the "number of breeding ducks in Minnesota and North America has remained fairly high in recent years, and reports on the number of duck families over the summer have been favorable."

Great news for duck hunters! And then we have ok news for Canada goose hunters. The population numbers are low so there was a low success rate early this season but the success rate is expected to go up.

Now back to duck hunting! The rules remain the same as they have in recent years: the opener is this Saturday and "will be open for 60 days, with closures in early October in the central and southern zones. The daily bag limit remains six per day."
