Rochester Man Injured In Reported Knife Attack; Suspect Arrested
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - One Rochester man was taken to the hospital and another to jail early Tuesday after a reported knife attack inside an apartment.
Police officers were called to an apartment complex at 412 14th St SE just after 1:00 am to check a report of a disorderly conduct incident.
They could hear yelling coming from a 2nd-floor unit and knocked on the door. They got no response and when they heard a man yelling for help, forced the door open.
Capt. Casey Moilanen says the officers went in and saw a man holding a knife. When he began reaching into a pants pocket, the officers restrained the man. They found a stun gun in the pocket. Moilanen says the officers also saw a man on the floor with blood on his face and clothing. He told them the man with the knife had cut him on the face and neck. The 52-year-old was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
The man with the knife was arrested on a felony assault charge. He was identified as 40-year-old Abdirahman Sheik-Yusuf, who lives at the apartment where the assault took place.
Moilanen says he had apparently been hosting a party as there were several people there. They gave conflicting stories about what happened.
