As a sucker for animals, I love to feature special animals when I get the chance who need help finding a forever family. I've written about cats who need help finding a home in the past but today it's all about a dog I've met at Paws and Claws here in Rochester, Minnesota.

We've talked about this before, I'm a volunteer at Paws and Claws Humane Society. I started off as a cat volunteer where my husband and I would go in and spend time with the cats waiting for their forever homes. But recently we got trained in to also volunteer with the dogs! And one dog that we've met so far is so sweet but is also the dog who has been there the longest out of all the dogs in Paws and Claws' care.

His name is Clubber and he's such a good boy. My husband and I have walked him a few times and he's always so excited to get out and about with us. He's been waiting at Paws and Claws since the end of April. While that's only 3 months, most dogs at Paws and Claws get adopted out faster.

He's a Chinese Shar-Pei/Retriever/Labrador mix and is a little over 3 years old. When we go out and walk him he is very, very excited to get outside so he'll need someone who's comfortable handling a bigger dog that pulls and, of course, someone who is willing to spend the time training him.

Clubber also needs someone who will take the time to get him socialized. He was originally adopted from Paws and Claws as a puppy but the person brought him back 3 years later "due to some difficulties with the child in the household." I spoke with someone at Paws and Claws about this because I was a little confused. He's so sweet and whenever we tell him to sit he listens (even when he's excited out on a walk). They told me that Clubber is undersocialized and so he doesn't know how to react in certain situations. So, again, he will need someone who is willing to spend time training him and I think he would make an amazing furry companion.

If you're not looking to adopt a dog right now but you know someone who is, tell them about Clubber. Let's help him find his forever home!

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
