Rochester Area Football Games Facing Threat of Stormy Weather
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Stormy weather more common during the summer months than the first week of October is expected to develop across southeast Minnesota late Friday afternoon and evening.
There is some concern it could affect area high school football games because of the risk of lightning. The National Weather Service is advising players and fans to seek shelter if lightning is in their area.
The storms are also expected to produce periods of heavy rain. Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches or more are possible. The rain is expected to gradually taper off Saturday or Saturday evening. Sunny and pleasant conditions are predicted for Sunday.
The Rochester area has received around two inches of rain in the past 11 days and that has erased the deficit that began building in late August.
