Rochester Area Could See Three Rounds of Snow Starting Sunday
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - As meteorologists are fond of saying, we are in an active weather pattern. The National Weather Service is predicting southern Minnesota will be visited by another snow storm on Sunday and that could be followed by a major storm early next week.
At this point, a storm system lifting toward Minnesota from the south is forecast to drop another 2 to 4 inches of snow on southeastern Minnesota on Sunday. Forecasters say the track of the system could still shift and there is a chance some areas could see higher accumulations and some freezing drizzle. A winter weather advisory has been issued from 6 AM to 6 PM Sunday.
Meanwhile, forecasters are closely monitoring a potent storm system that’s predicted to come out of the Rockies on Monday. The forecasting models are not in agreement on the track of the low-pressure center, but the National Weather Service says it’s likely to produce significant snow somewhere across the Upper Midwest late Monday and into Tuesday. A third round of snow is possible on Thursday.
Stay tuned for updates regarding both weather systems.
