For the past 18 years, the Rochester Red Wings have been the AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Since they parted ways in November, the Twins seem to be on track to announce the St. Paul Saints to be the team's AAA affiliate.

According to a report from the Star Tribune the Twins and Saints are close on a deal. The Saints will leave independent baseball and become the Twins' top farm team. Twins Manager Rocco Baldelli helped add to the speculation by posting a video on Twitter of him wearing a St. Paul Saints hat referencing Twins Territory.

The Twins will also move their AA squad to Witchita, Kansas from Pensacola, Florida. Cedar Rapids, Iowa will stay home to the organization's Class A affiliate.

Why both of these moves will save the Twins organization money by limiting travel costs, it will also benefit from trimming down the time it takes a player to get from one location to another. It could also be great for Twins fans, too.

Fans will now be able to watch some of the team's top prospects in St. Paul while enjoying the game at CHS Field. It is just a short drive across the Mississippi River from Target Field. It is an opportunity for fans to get a better look at the organization along with a chance to engage with those players before they make it to the big leagues.

While the moves are not official yet, Fox 9 reported that these moves could be announced sometime this week.

Wednesday night, the Minnesota Twins also came to agreements on terms with Jose Berrios, Byron Buxton, Taylor Rogers, Tyler Duffy, and Mitch Garver. The organization also non-tendered Matt Wisler and Eddie Rosario, meaning the two players are now free agents.

Hopefully, fans can get back in the stands and enjoy some baseball this summer at Target Field and CHS Field. If you can't make it to the game,  you can always listen to the Minnesota Twins all season long on 103.1 KFIL and Newstalk 1340 KROC-AM and 96.9 FM.
