Oxbow Park Closed Indefinitely Due To Flooding
A popular park in Southeast Minnesota saw a lot of damage from the recent flooding that happened this past week. Unfortunately, the damage has led to the park being closed indefinitely.
Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo, located just North of Byron, posted the following update on their Facebook page this morning:
Due to recent flooding Oxbow Park & Zollman Zoo will be closed indefinitely (edit: until further notice). Watch our Facebook page or our website for updates.
A friend of mine was there over the weekend and was able to take a few photos of the damage that she was able to see. The pictures of the large trees in the playground equipment and path of where the water ran pretty much say it all...a lot of clean up work is needed.
Oxbow Park says their staff are assessing damages and will let the public know when volunteers for flood cleanup are needed. In the meantime, if you would like to assist with the flood relief efforts monetarily, you can donate through the Friends of Oxbow website.
UPDATE: The Zollman Zoo will remain open during regular hours, 10am to 4pm, while the Oxbow Park picnic areas and campground are still closed, according to a new post on the Oxbow Park Facebook page.
