Are you a budding artist? Do you want to be part of history? "Pop-up" studios are being planned to help paint the Preston community outdoor mural. (Artist's rendition shown.)

The mural eventually will be painted on Preston City Hall and has been designed by former Preston resident, Alison Love Unzelman. Alison needs many helping hands to complete the project. Pop-up studios have been scheduled at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston. Wear old clothes or you can pick up a free painting shirt at JuliaClaire Repeat Boutique. You don't have to be an artist. I'm told it's as easy as a paint-by-number project. Once the project is completed and on display, you'll be able to stand back and say, "I did that!"

Dates and times are listed below for the pop-up studios. For more information or to sign up, contact Beth at the Preston Public Library. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are suggested.

Dates and Times:
July 25 through 29 and August 15 through 19
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

The mural project is funded in part or in whole with legislative appropriations from Minnesota's Art and Cultural Heritage Fund and is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council and Southeastern Libraries Cooperating.
