According to Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen, there was "an active scene that we are working. Our mobile command van is parked there now." The scene being worked on is on the 700 block of 3rd Street NW.

Contrary to a phone call received by KDHL-Power 96 this morning Chief Bohlen told us via email that the "BCA did not respond" to the scene. Currently, there is no risk to the public that Faribault police are aware of at this time."

(Monday night after 8pm) Faribault Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of 3rd Street NW. Officers were advised that the female caller was reporting that her boyfriend had been drinking and was throwing things around the residence and that she was unable to exit the residence.

The caller also reported that her boyfriend had two guns in the residence and that he might fight or flee when officers arrived. While collecting information, the dispatcher heard the caller scream and then lost contact. Calls back to the caller went unanswered.

When officers arrived, officers received no response when they knocked. Officers could see overturned furniture inside the residence and found the door unlocked. Officers entered the residence and found two unresponsive persons, one female, and one male, on the floor.

The female appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds and life-saving measures were attempted, but she was ultimately declared dead at the scene. The male appeared to have suffered a single gunshot to the head and was determined to be deceased. A handgun was found lying next to the male. Officers and detectives worked through the night to process the scene.
