The offenses came to life in Rushford during the Section 1A East Subsection Quarterfinal where #3 Rushford-Peterson took down #6 Houston 13-8.

The Trojans jumped out to a 1-0 lead but Houston tied it up in the 2nd. Then, the Trojans really started to take control of the game after getting a run in the third and four more in the fourth.

Tommy Ekern hit a big two-RBI single in the fourth to help push the Trojans lead to 6-1 after four, and then Alex Ronnenberg hit an RBI single in the 5th to help the Trojans build an 8-1 lead.

The 8-1 lead when to 8-4 in a hurry. Jatin Millen crushed a two-run homer and then Jamones Hongerholt created havoc on the basepaths in the sixth to make it 8-4. R-P came back with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Halen Schwendinger led off the inning with a solo blast, while Ronnenberg had a big two-RBI double to help five runs cross the plate in the inning.

Houston made things interesting in the seventh, by pushing four runs across the plate, including RBIs from Landon Carrier, Alex Alfson and Austin Fishel, but the Trojans were able to hold on for the 13-8 win.

Rushford-Peterson will take on Spring Grove at Winona State on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
