Northern Minnesota Casino Supervisor Admits to Embezzlement
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former supervisor for a northern Minnesota casino has pleaded guilty to a federal embezzlement charge.
The Acting US Attorney for Minnesota says 32-year-old Jennifer Boutto admitted to stealing over $315,000 from the Fortune Bay Resort Casino along Lake Vermillion. Prosecutors say the Orr woman took the money between January 2013 and October 2019 while she was employed as a Front Desk Supervisor.
Investigators say the position allowed Boutto to issue cash refunds without direct supervision and used her authority to issue false cash refunds using the names of previous casino customers. It was allegedly she utilized the scheme nearly 3,000 times to steal the funds.
