An unknown number of vehicles were forced  to drive into the median or ditch to avoid colliding with the driver.  Olmsted and Dodge County deputies began pursuing the vehicle but the driver did not stop. Squad cars were eventually able to surround the vehicle and bring it to a stop east of Kasson. Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose says an ambulance was requested for the driver, who claimed the incident was  in part due to a medical condition. Rose says “there were indications that impairment may have been a factor.”

The driver was identified as a 25-year-old man from Faribault. It's not known if that's where he was headed to.

He was transported by ambulance to Saint Mary’s Hospital. Rose says a blood sample was obtained and “charges are pending.”

News update:  Another Minnesotan has been killed in a traffic accident.
