Mixed Verdict in Rochester Child Porn Trial
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been convicted of 3 child pornography charges by an Olmsted County jury that acquitted him of 3 other felony counts.
The mixed verdict was handed down this afternoon in the trial of 31-year-old Dzenan Kamencic. The guilty verdicts were for 3 counts of possession of child pornography stemming from an investigation that led to the discovery of multiple sexually explicit images of children on his cell phone. Court records state one image depicted a girl between the ages of 6 months and 18-months old.
He was also accused of trying to coerce a local high school student to send nude photos to his Instagram account. The 16-year-old girl told police she received an online message in December 2016 from a person who claimed to possess nude photos of her and threatened to release them if she did not send new ones. The charges indicated investigators were able to trace the message to Kamencic. The criminal complaint in the case also alleged he contacted an adult woman and later sent nude photos of her to family members another Instagram users.
Kamencic is scheduled to be sentenced on September 4th.
