St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News - Unemployment in Minnesota was down last month, but the seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained slightly higher than it was a year ago.

The latest jobs report from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the state enjoyed a net gain of about 5000 jobs in November as the unemployment rate dipped two-tenths of a point from October to 3.8-percent. Last November, the jobless rate was 3.7-percent, while the national employment rate last month was 4.6-percent.

Over the past year, Minnesota’s economy has added almost 32,000 jobs for a job growth rate of 1.1-percent. The biggest gains last month were in the construction sector, which added about 3400 jobs, while the biggest year-over-year gains have been in education and health services at over 14,600 jobs.

The Rochester area continues to enjoy the strongest job growth rate among Minnesota’s larger urban centers. The report shows it is added about 3000 jobs over the past 12 months for a job growth rate of 2.6-percent. The Twin Cities area added over 27,000 jobs for a growth rate of 1.4-percent.
